Teaching: Sharing the love

Sharing the love of books.

I have always loved teaching. Even as a child, I “graded” comic books and my older brother’s homework! Can you imagine handing in homework with red crayon checkmarks and X’s all over it? Luckily, he forgave me, and I did become a teacher.

I have a bachelor of science degree from Texas A&M University in elementary education specializing in reading. I enjoyed teaching second grade before I had children. Then I had the blessing of home-schooling all four of my kids. During that time, I also taught several classes for other home-schoolers.

My husband excitedly told me when our kids graduated from high school that I could retire and do whatever I wanted. I am now an empty nester, but I’m not ready to retire. I created many of my own literature units over the years, and I would like to share my knowledge and expertise on this blog to help home-schooling parents and fellow teachers. I love children’s books and hope to instill the same love to students through the teachers who read this blog.
